Our blogger in the Italian Dolomites, Beth Lloyd, tells us how she has picked up ski touring almost from scratch this season – with fantastic results.
FEW. It’s snowed!!! It was getting a little tense there, the green slopes were hard to ignore and as good as the skiing was, it just wasn’t looking like a winter ski resort here in Corvara (The Italian Dolomites). It was getting to the point that you hardly had time to introduce yourself at the airport before someone pinned you […]
Pascal Arpin – A Freshtracks Guide in the Tarentaise Valley sent in the below images following the Freshtracks Off Piste Progression #2 trip in Tignes. “We were worried about the snow conditions at the beginning of the week but nature offered us fresh snow. Ski Club Leader Ryan Davison Crisp has skipped Europe to spend an entire season in (usually) snowy Whistler. Here’s the first installment in his new series of blogs for the Ski Club. I am sat here at 34,000 feet, tired, excited, and admittedly a little anxious. The stewardess has just passed me not one, but two bottles of cheap Chardonnay, […]

I was beginning to despair that this would be a crime I was about to commit… but I’ve now managed to ski three different routes this April. I held back from attempting it previously as you really want to a sunny day to enjoy […]
Each year at the SIGB Ski Test the biggest ski brands showcase their latest and greatest, but as well as the major players there’s always a handful of smaller manufacturers in attendance too. You might not see their skis lining the walls of ski shops throughout the UK, however in some cases these skis can be well worth the effort of tracking down…
There’s been plenty of powder steadily floating down into the valley over the last few days… and it has been much needed as after the initial big dump in December, things have been icing up. With so much powder on the way, I was glad I’d already got my avalanche skills up to scratch with an avalanche foundation course run by the Avalanche Academy here in Chamonix.
