I absolutely love festival season but it isn’t quite here in England just yet. The Alps on the other hand will play host to an eclectic mix of live music throughout the winter season and as the start of spring draws that little bit closer; it brings with it an array of festivals. Over the next few weeks I will be blogging about all the up and coming festivals so keep an eye on our blog for what festivals are afoot and who you can expect to see on the mountains!
Below I will cover the annoucements for Caprices Festival, Crans Montana and Rock the Pistes, Portes due Soleil. Two very different festivals, one offering electronic beats and the other delving into the world of funk and soul.
Caprices Festival – Crans Montana 9th – 12th April 2015
Voted in the top 3 festivals by MTV Mobile, you can expect one incredible weekend. Personally in awe of the line-up, some of my favourite artists are set to perform from the world of dance music. Here’s a little teaser video.
So who to mention first? Let’s go with the godfather of tech house, Sven Väth!
Well how about that? Ask anyone about the most influential artists in tech house and this legend’s name will almost certainly pop up. Since 1981 Sven has been at the forefront of electronic music and there are no signs of him slowing down…
And don’t forget about the quality duo that is Deep Dish…
Crans Montana and Caprices Festival 2015 welcome the duo from Washington D.C, catch Deep Dish on the Friday and experience some of the finest progressive and tech house in the lands.
You might remember this tune of theirs:
Another absolute gem you can expect is the German two piece known as Digitalism. Formed in Hamburg in 2004, Digitalism have been heavily on the scene ever since, producing some quality electronic music. With a lot of hype and some real treats in their back catalogue, including remixes for the likes of The White Stripes, Tom Vek and Daft Punk, these two are not to be missed.
A song that reminds me of my university days:
I could go on about who else will be hitting the stage at Caprices 2015, Ricardo Villalobos, C2C, Luciano…to name a few but I must move onto another festival gearing up for the Alps.
Rock the Piste – Portes Du Soleil 2015
The first artists scheduled to play at ‘Rock the Piste’ in the Portes Du Soleil have been announced. To quote the organisers “No matter what kind of ski or snowboard boots you are wearing, they will make you dance.”
First off the press:
Charlie Winston – A British singer/songwriter with a fresh and funky feel, with similarities to the likes of Ray Charles and Tom Waits. All material is his own and recent works have been mixed by Ruahdri Cushnan, well known for his work with Ed Sheeran and Mumford & Sons.
Charlie Winston is scheduled to play in Avoriaz on the 16th March.

Dub Inc – France’s own home-grown 8 piece reggae group. Dub Inc have been playing for the past 10 years and really made a name for themselves with their vibrant performances and philosophy of mixing musical styles from around the world. The French language often dubbed the language of love is used to full affect with these guys. The slick blend of French, English, Kabyl and that old reggae twang works beautifully and you can’t help but swing a little to their rhythms.
Dub Inc are scheduled to play in Champery, Les Gets on March 19th.
The Dø – are a captivating duo who made their mark in January 2008 after their debut LP, A Mouthful became a best seller in France. A few years later, The Dø are back with an eclectic mixture of electro, pop and groove in the form of their new album Shake Shook Shaken and are set to play at Rock the Piste 2015.
