Emily Sarsfield in action in Val Thorens
Ski Club sponsored rider and Ski Cross racer Emily Sarsfield is Europe-bound for the next event on the World Cup calendar. Following a bit of action on the other side of the Atlantic, the event in Val Thorens (18-19 December) is the first European stage. Val Thorens is pretty much right in Emily’s backyard (she’s often in Meribel when she’s not training and competing).
The resort of Val Thorens is high and snow-sure, and it’s the first time they’re hosting a World Cup event following successful Europa Cup competitions. Emily’s collected a few all-important world cup points already, with a 29th placing in Nakiska and 26th in Telluride. With the Sochi 2014 qualification period underway, every race is crucial.
Emily’s no stranger to competing in Ski Cross at the highest level – however this year she’s competing alongside fellow GB athletes Pam Thorburn, who’s new to Ski Cross World Cup after converting form Alpine, as well as Pete Whelan.
So if you’re in the Three Valleys area on the 18th of December, or skiing with the Ski Club Leader in VT, make sure you drop by and make some noise for our GB athletes!
